Far too often, the hands of school leaders and their communities are tied in making decisions about personnel and resources. We know that that one size does not fit all and that solutions cannot come from a central office alone. To ensure better outcomes in our education system, we must empower local leaders to lead.
MPS has recently adopted a policy to allow schools to apply for greater autonomy. I support this initiative and look forward to creating the accountability structure to ensure that this system is effective at improving student outcomes.
