More Time in School
Many kids do not spend enough time in the classroom. This puts America at a competitive disadvantage relative to other nations across the globe. To better prepare their students, struggling schools may need longer school years and longer school days. Right now, most of our children are spending as little as 180 days in class for 6 1/2 hours per day, placing us in the bottom half of industrialized countries. By adding just one hour of instruction per day and adding an extra 20 days over the summer, schools can give students more than THREE YEARS of additional classroom instruction over the course of their K-12 education.
